Discover the Rhythm of a Healthy Body with Sound Chiropractic

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

What is Chiropractic Care?

Just like a musician needs to tune their instrument to produce the best sound, our bodies must be properly "tuned" to function at their best.

Chiropractic care is a healthcare discipline that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. It involves making small adjustments using various manual techniques to the joints in the body, particularly the spine, to improve their alignment and restore proper movement.

Adjustments to the spine and other joints can be considered a "tuning" of the body, much like a musician tunes their instrument. However, instead of tuning an instrument to produce the best sound, At Sound Chiropractic, Dr. Stefan Nichols tunes the body to support pain relief, improve mobility, and enhance overall health.

About Us

We are not a franchise. We are a concierge service.

Franchises are business structures that operate clinics purchased by franchisees according to established systems to benefit a franchisor.

Comparatively, we are a service. And we exist to meet your individual needs.

What does this mean for you?

Your health is our business.

This means our clinic is dedicated to providing specialized service and the highest level of personalized care and attention to people seeking chiropractic treatment or care for their spine or nervous system.

This also means that while we make appointments easy to schedule, we do not take walk ins. We schedule all appointments in advance to ensure you have enough time to get the care you need without any pressure. No walk ins also means no wait. Schedule your appointment, receive the care you need, and achieve your health and wellness goals more effectively.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Seeking relief? Chiropractic can be life changing in many ways. It is particularly beneficial for people seeking:

  • Relief of pain and discomfort in the neck, back, and other parts of the body

  • Improved range of motion and flexibility

  • Reduced inflammation and swelling

  • Improved posture and balance

  • Enhanced immune function

  • Improved athletic performance

  • Stress reduction and relaxation

  • Better quality of sleep

The National Center for Health Statistics reports chiropractic care is the most commonly used complementary health approach for back or neck pain, as well as joint pain or stiffness.

How do chiropractors help improve health?

Improved Nervous System Function:

The nervous system is responsible for sending messages between the brain and the rest of the body. When the musculoskeletal system is out of alignment, it can interfere with those messages and lead to various unwanted physical symptoms like neck pain. Chiropractic adjustments help to restore proper alignment and function of the spine, which can improve the nervous system and reduce physical symptoms.

Reducing Muscle Tension:

Chiropractic adjustments help relieve tension in the muscles and soft tissues. By addressing these underlying imbalances, chiropractic can help promote a more balanced and relaxed state in the body.

Promoting Overall Wellness:

Chiropractic is a holistic approach to healthcare. This means we believe in supporting our community of health specialists, including medical doctors, in supporting an improved way of life for everyone. Dr. Nichols can partner with your other health care providers to ensure you receive well-rounded care. Common community partnerships include:

  • Joint chiropractic and medical services

  • Joint chiropractic and massage services

  • Joint chiropractic and acupuncture services

  • Joint chiropractic and physical therapy

By working together, we can help you achieve optimal health and well-being.

Different conditions can be treated using chiropractic:

Millions of people across the United States go to clinics to receive chiropractic care every year. Whether you are in grade school, college, or beyond your schooling years. A chiropractor can treat many people with a wide range of conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, including:

  • Patients experiencing back pain: We can use many techniques to manipulate the spine and relieve tension in the back muscles.

  • Patients experiencing neck pain: We can help relieve tension and stiffness in the neck muscles and improve your range of motion.

  • Patients experiencing headaches or migraines: We can use spinal manipulation and other techniques to relieve tension in the neck muscles and reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches or migraines.

  • Sports injuries: We can help athletes recover from injuries, improve their performance, and prevent future injuries by using multiple manual techniques, exercise, and other therapies.

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome: We can help relieve the pain, tingling, and numbness associated with carpal tunnel syndrome by manipulating the wrist and hand.

  • Sciatica: We can use spinal manipulation and other techniques to relieve the pain and numbness associated with sciatica. Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or irritated.

  • Scoliosis: We can help reduce the progression of scoliosis, a condition that causes the spine to curve, by using spinal manipulation and exercise.

  • Fibromyalgia: We can help relieve the stiffness associated with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes widespread pain in the muscles and joints.

What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

An adjustment is like fine-tuning the vibrations in the joints and tissues of our body. Just like a guitar string that can produce a sour note, a joint that is out of alignment can cause discomfort and even pain.

During an adjustment, chiropractors can use their hands or a device to apply a controlled force to a specific joint. This supports aligning the joint to a better position and improving its range of motion.

An adjustment can be thought of as a way to help the joint work in harmony with the rest of the body.

What is the goal?

In our bodies, our joints and tissues vibrate and create waves necessary for proper movement and function. When these vibrations in a joint or tissue are disrupted or are out of sync, it can lead to discomfort, pain, and other issues.

When a joint is properly aligned, it can move more freely and with less friction. This allows surrounding tissues to function more effectively.

This can improve overall health and well-being, just as being in tune can create beautiful music.

Convenient Tips for Optimizing Spinal Health

Practice good posture: Sit or stand up straight, keep your shoulders back and your head centered over your spine. This helps distribute weight and pressure evenly across joints and reduce stress.

Stay active: Engage in regular exercise to strengthen your core muscles and support your spine.

Stretch regularly: Incorporate stretching exercises into your routine to keep your muscles flexible and prevent stiffness.

Avoid prolonged sitting or standing: Take frequent breaks and change positions frequently to avoid putting undue stress on a particular joint and your spine.

Lift with your legs: When lifting heavy objects, use your legs to lift, not your back.

Maintain a healthy weight: Extra weight can impact joint health and strain your spine, leading to pain and discomfort.

Use proper ergonomics: Make sure your work environment is ergonomically designed to reduce strain on your spine.

Sleep on a supportive mattress: Use a mattress that supports your spine and keeps it in a neutral position.

Quit smoking: Smoking can interfere with the delivery of nutrients to spinal discs and increase the risk of spinal problems.
